The Committee has worked really hard to get the Hall back in working order as quickly as possible, but most of the work has been done by Martyn, Lyn and Sue. We would like to thank them for all their labours on behalf of the Committee, and the village. They have devoted many, many hours to the restoration, and we’re very grateful.
Caroline, Helen and Sue have coordinated the refurbishment of the committee room, which looks fabulous, so we’d like to thank them, too. The existing chairs are really good quality so we’re going to retain them, but an upholstery session is planned, under Sue’s capable supervision, to give them a modern twist – let us know if you’d like to join in.
Works to re-lay the main floor are well underway. Just to add to the workload, the builders have discovered dry rot in the corridor floor but the Committee is working hard to make sure that doesn’t delay our reopening date.
Following the water leak last December, work has been underway to replace the main floor.
The original clay lump piers have been removed, with new 1.5 m footings dug and filled with concrete. The subfloor has now been laid and decorating is underway. The wooden floor is to be laid the week beginning 7th May 2019.
